TLDR: A quick Box Hill Central Thai stop for solo diners or small groups who don’t mind a fusion, sweet-leaning flavour profile. I popped into Dodee in Box Hill for a quick Saturday night dinner. The meal was fast and the textures were fun, but the sweetness ran a bit heavy and the QR ordering made it feel a little impersonal. I ordered the Dodee variety noodle, chicken satay, and a papaya salad with pork jowl (moo tok krok). The variety noodle was the clear winner. It had that sour, sweet, salty, spicy mix going on, and the crunchy cracker and peanut element pulled it together. I liked the contrast of crunchy bits, chewy noodles, and tender ribs. It was the kind of dish that keeps you taking one more bite. The chicken satay didn’t land for me. They were dry and chewy, and while the peanut satay sauce had a strong flavour, it skewed too sweet. The papaya salad was easy to eat with a nice crunch from the veg, and the pork jowl was tender and not overly fatty. But again, the sweetness edged it past what I enjoy. Service was efficient. I waited about 2 minutes for a table and food came out in about 5 minutes. Ordering is via QR, so you don’t get much interaction with staff. I did need to remind them about a drink. Payment was quick, but I noticed a surcharge with Apple Pay. The space was clean, seating was comfortable, and it was busy with moderate noise. Parking around Box Hill Central was manageable too. Free B2, cheap paid B1, plus limited metered spots on Carrington Road (free after 6:30 pm). Would I return: Maybe, mainly for a fast meal and the variety noodle. SCORE BREAKDOWN Food: 22/40 (Great texture variety and balance in the variety noodle, but overall sweetness dominated and the satay chicken was dry/chewy.) Service: 10/20 (Very fast pacing, but neutral and minimal interaction via QR, plus I had to remind them about a drink.) Atmosphere: 12/20 (Clean and comfortable, though crowded with moderate noise on a Saturday night.) Value: 12/20 (I spent about $50 for lots of variety, but you could be full for around $20. Apple Pay surcharge noted.) Confidence: High Total: 56/100 → 2.8/5★
