Dumpling King

A Chinese restaurant as old as me and still such a gem in Box Hill. Conveniently located within walking distance from Box Hill Station, with plenty of parking behind the restaurant near the train line or inside Box Hill Central, it’s super easy to get to. They have an extensive vegetarian menu, and honestly, your vegetarian friends will love you for bringing them here. I wouldn’t even mind going fully vegetarian if I could eat like this every time. My favourite was the Vegetarian “Duck” with Chinese mushrooms, made from beancurd sheets with a surprisingly crispy “skin,” just like roast duck. Another standout was the scrambled egg whites with diced seafood (aka “imitation crab”). It looks like crab but it’s actually just fluffy, silky egg whites, simple but so satisfying. They also do great dumplings, especially the boiled beef dumplings, naturally coloured with carrot juice. The stir-fried king prawns with garlic sauce were excellent too! Perfectly cooked prawns and veggies that still had a good crunch. If you like a spicy option, the crispy beef is another must try. Perfect for a group setting so you can order more dishes to try. Asian food is always best when shared! Highly recommend visiting if you’re in the area.

I am so full. The most beautiful place for some Chinese food. We had a whole bunch of dishes, the one dish that stood out was the vegetarian duck meat, SO GOOD OMG. The flavours and texture, everything. The owners and service are so so lovely and have an amazing story. I would highly recommend getting to know the staff and owners it made the whole experience so memorable. They are so vegetarian and vegan friendly so many different options tooooo. And they even cater to any special dietary requirements Thank you so much

The food was great. I never knew green beans could taste so good. We ordered a bunch of things for the table and shared which was great. I’d definitely go back.

Pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem restaurant! Staff are friendly and welcoming. Food is delicious! Hot, fresh and flavoursome! I ate far too much and loved it all! 🥰 Drink fridge broken so only flaw was drinks were a little warm.

I stayed here for a weekend getaway and honestly I didn’t expect it to be this good. The atmosphere felt warm the moment I walked in and the team at the reception were genuinely friendly not just polite. My room overlooked a quiet garden and the early morning light made it even more peaceful. Breakfast had so many choices and everything tasted fresh which made the whole stay feel like a real escape
