I'm shocked to see some negative comments. Started going there recently and the experience has always been great. Helpful staff in general, they've accommodated my baked food requests in the last minute because I'm vegetarian and I wasn't even buying a lot. I'm a regular now and every time I buy rice and curry they make me a massive packet without even asking for any extra, there's always enough food for two. They're actually very nice and I'd like you guys to give it another go.

I visited this disgraceful Sri Lankan grocery store a couple of weeks ago and was very disappointed with the experience. Prices are noticeably higher compared to other Sri Lankan groceries in the area. The staff were rude and dismissive, and the lady who seems to manage the place was particularly unpleasant — showing a hostile, “buy it or leave” attitude that’s completely unwelcoming.
Sadly, there’s no sense of Sri Lankan hospitality or culture here, which is what most of us hope to experience when shopping at a Sri Lankan store. The treatment of student staff also raises serious concerns — they appear to be poorly paid and poorly treated, which could amount to exploitation.
I would strongly encourage fellow Sri Lankans to support other Sri Lankan groceries in nearby suburbs that treat customers and staff with respect and uphold our community’s values. **All above observations evidenced by other similar google reviews.

I bought a rice & curry pack & a chicken biriyani pack . I should say that it is the worst tasting food that I have ever bought from a Sri Lankan shop for last 15 years . I am not sure if the food sold in here are been checked by the owners of this place as even a novice person can cook better food than this .
They called this rice & curry pack as “Gami Rasa “ , but it’s a true insulation for real authentic Sri Lankan food . All the curries in the lunch pack appeared in black colour ( I believe due to roasted curry powder) also tasted super watery & bland . Biriyani was also tasteless & flat. I will definitely not recommending this place for food & you lost me Elephant House 👎👎

Always had a great experience everytime i visited the store. The staff is always friendly and helpful. Huge shoutout to their hopper section! The staff, specifically the cashier there is really helpful. Always feels like you are in a store in Sri Lanka. Keep it up!

Definitely giving this place a 5 star. The customer service we received was really good. We really appreciate how helpful the staff were in getting us what we wanted. Their hoppers are amazing! The curries really felt homemade. Thankyou Elephant House.
