I’ve been to plenty of restaurants across Melbourne, and for a venue attached to a golf course with a premium reputation, this was genuinely disappointing.
We sat for 15 minutes before anyone even bothered to hand us a menu. The first staff member who approached had absolutely no idea about the wines — not even the basics — which is the bare minimum for a place branding itself as a bistro/restaurant.
The food was worse than the service. Everything tasted like it came off the same grill plate — no flavour, no care, just rushed and cheap. Honestly, the whole experience felt more like a cafeteria at a theme park than a golf course restaurant. At this point, calling it a “bistro” is generous. “Tavern” would be more accurate.
The only saving grace was Olivia. She was attentive, switched on, and genuinely trying. For someone who’s only been there three weeks, she was the only person who delivered anything close to proper hospitality.
Sanctuary Lakes deserves better than this. For the prices and the branding, the standard needs to be much, much higher.

I got married last weekend outside the Terrace room and just - wow. Everything was so beautiful!! I can't thank Terry enough for making the day so special. He really went above and beyond to make sure the night was absolutely perfect, even doing a fantastic job offering to MC for us! Loved everything about our day. Everyone loved the food and enjoyed themselves. 10/5 stars from us.

Great adventure golf through an estate with water carries and driveable par 4s. Several stunning holes, large bunkers. Course felt a little tired with conditions not matching the price, rickety brick path and some graffiti on the clubhouse (edit: which had been cleaned up when I came back recently a second time). Design was quite open and very solid if a little repetitive on some holes.

Thank you Terry, Josh and staff for your efficient help and kindness in providing the venue for our Ladies Christmas Lunch. The food was excellent, just the right amount and served together to 30 of us, no small feat. Everyone had a marvellous time. We are so lucky to have this lovely local place to share dining and friendship. Well done everyone and see you in 2026 for another year of fun!
