If I am near or around Cheltenham, my stock
standard practice is to have hot beverage and empanada here and this place is beauty.
🥟 Here too good and it's t challenge to have just 2 , so end up with having some amazing 🍰 too.
The service is exceptional and this place has cult following of regular clients and there's no wonder why.
Owner has a big heart which can be seen and the generous nature seems to be liked by everyone and that is incredible.
Plenty of parking available and a place where you can loose time and sit and just enjoy.

I’ve been to El Mercado several times, and it never disappoint. Whether I’m craving something sweet or savoury, they always hit the mark. Their cheese and caramelised onion empanada is hands down my favourite, I seriously can’t get enough. My kids are obsessed with the beef and ham & cheese ones; they even take them to school for lunch and enjoy them at room temperature!
The pastries are on another level. You can taste the quality in every bite; light, airy, and perfectly fluffy. The mil hojas cake is my husband’s favourite; one bite and we’re instantly transported back to Chile.
In summary, I just love everything from El Mercado. And every time I bring something to a friend’s place, I end up being the star of the lunch or dinner without moving a finger.

Our second visit to El Mercado. Our first was incredible and was 5 stars across the board. This visit was also a great one, but the only thing I wasn't stoked about, was that it took a good 5+ minutes to even been acknowledged with a simple smile or hello, with 3 staff behind the counter, they were all occupied with duties in coffeen and waiting which is fine, but just a simple hello and a smile would have been great, any other place I'd have left. Once I was greeted and served, the service was as I remembered, warm smiles and enthusiasm for their offerings, no apology for being ignored but I don't think they even realized, these things happen I guess! The food of course is incredible and they're still my favorite place for empanadas and Portuguese tarts. Nobody comes close! Highly recommended still.

Bought a thousand layer cake and some ampanadas. My south American friends all praised both the cake and ampanadas. I really enjoyed them too.

The Empanadas and pastries are amazing. I'll be back for sure.
So many delicious flavours. Lots of vegetarian options, but all have cheese, so not good for vegans.
The service was lovely, these ladies know what their doing. This is a very popular local spot. Get in early if you want a table.
