We dined at Farmer’s Daughters and chose the Gippsland-inspired menu, which delivered a genuinely memorable dining experience. What truly sets Farmer’s Daughters apart is its commitment to place. It’s rare to find a fine-dining restaurant where both the food and the wine pairing are drawn from the same region, and that cohesion made the experience feel thoughtful, authentic, and quietly impressive. It’s not just farm-to-table—it’s region-to-glass, executed with confidence. Every dish was excellent, but the additional beef short rib is an absolute must. If it’s offered, order it—future you will be grateful. The menu balances refinement with generosity, and there’s a warmth to the cooking that stops it from ever feeling overworked or precious. The service deserves special mention. The team is welcoming, knowledgeable, and genuinely engaging. Questions about the food or wine are met with insight rather than rehearsed lines, and there’s a relaxed professionalism that makes the whole experience feel effortless—no small feat in a fine-dining setting. In short, Farmer’s Daughters is a standout Melbourne dining destination. Exceptional food, well-considered wine pairings, and service that makes you feel truly looked after. A restaurant well worth seeking out—and revisiting—when you’re in Melbourne.

Overall dining experience was good and appreciated the Gippsland farm ingredients. Personally loved the trout and the soda bread. But the portions aren’t much for the set menu, I think an average man would walk out still feeling hungry. They do give you an option of adding another main throughout though but wishing they notified about this at the start of the dining too. The venison was quite chewy and the dessert was a bit disappointing where the chocolate mousse tasted very waxy and the orange flavours were too sweet and overpowering. Good service and atmosphere, gets very busy on a Saturday night, just happy to try once.

We chose to sit upstairs, and the restaurant was quite busy as usual, so definitely remember to make a booking. The menu is simple — it’s a set menu, and you can add extra dishes if you’d like, but if you don’t have a big appetite, the set is more than enough. The seating is a little cramped, but the service is great. As an Asian diner, I personally found the dishes really delicious with unique flavours. Even the bread had an interesting and memorable. But!the 5-course menu is designed to take around 3 hours, so the pace of the dishes is slow. If you’re in a hurry, you’ll need to ask them to speed things up. The wine selection, however, is extensive and very good. Overall, it’s a place worth returning to.

Our party of five enjoyed a relaxed evening at Farmer’s Daughters, a restaurant that impresses not only with its food but with its thoughtful design across three distinct levels. We chose to dine on the rooftop — an inspired decision, given the pleasant weather — and it offered just the right mix of comfort and atmosphere for a leisurely meal. Opting for the à la carte menu proved to be the right call. Each dish reflected a clear respect for quality produce and seasonal flavours. The lamb shoulder was a standout — slow-cooked to perfection, tender enough to fall from the bone, and paired with a jus that brought depth without overwhelming the meat. The beetroot salad with burrata, resting on a bed of mint sauce, was a delightful surprise — a clever balance of earthy, creamy, and herbal notes. The beef carpaccio was another highlight: delicately sliced, impeccably seasoned, and beautifully presented, showcasing the kitchen’s finesse. The bake scallops were plump and beautifully cooked but I did not really care for the topping of herb and sourdough crumbs. The Marker fish skin on was ok but did not blow me away found it was bland. The Heirloom tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, strawberries and basil, was lovely and refreshing. I finished off with Cheesecake, berry compote, almong fennel pollen, if was ok but nothing to write home about. Selection of cocktails were great and would recommend trying the Gippy Sippy, yum! Farmer’s Daughters staff were accomodating and overall we had a lovely evening.

We were so excited to try this place but it wasn’t as what we expected. The food was way too salty for us. It would be better if reduce the saltiness. My partner loves the bread so much. I love the fish dish but as mentioned, way too salty for us. And we really enjoyed the panna cotta. It’s a must! Staff were amazing though.
