I had a lovely time at Yugen Tea Bar often just “Yugen”, and their high tea was absolutely worth a five star shout out. The sweet and savoury dishes were beautifully balanced, every bite felt thoughtful and delicious. Plenty of variety means you go from light bites to richer treats without getting full too fast. I enjoyed the drinks: I had a matcha yuzu lemonade and Yunnan red tea, both refreshing and flavourful, a perfect match for the food. We sat in a corner booth with 7 girls, plenty of space and comfy seating, which made the group vibe relaxed and comfortable. The atmosphere at Yugen is stylish yet casual, an easy place for a “treat for the girls” night without feeling pretentious. Ordering and service were smooth and simple, everything arrived on time and we could focus on enjoying good food and good company rather than fuss.

Excellent shokupan and sando offerings with beautiful flavours and quality ingredients set within a contemporary and luxurious fitout. Pictured are the Wagyu pastrami sando, unagi shokupan, avocado shokupan and teriyaki chicken sando. The bread slices are thick and toasted perfectly. For the amount you pay, it may seem simple however each item is loaded with plenty of filling. Paired with a drink, it was just the right serving size for us. Went for weekend breakfast, it was quiet inside and we had choice of tables. The high tea sounds interesting and something to consider returning for. The setting is stunning.

Everything on the three-tier stand was delicate and delicious. 🍓 The scone was my favorite — soft and moist, not dry like the traditional ones. 🥪 Sandwiches were light and flavorful. 🍫 Valrhona chocolate cake was rich yet fluffy. 🍵 Black sesame choux cream was amazing! Their tea selection is a highlight — I had the Yugen Breakfast Tea, perfectly balanced and refillable, so you can try different kinds. The space has a modern Japanese feel with big windows and soft lighting — perfect for a relaxed afternoon with friends or a date.

Came here for the high tea on a Saturday noon. The high tea included five savoury bites, five sweet treats and a scone paired with strawberry jam and cream. For drinks, you can select one cold drink for the non-alcoholic option and a hot tea or coffee. I went with the houjicha sunrise which was refreshing with a bit of sweet tartness from the berry jam; and the Karigane green tea has a mellow earthy flavour without the harsh bitterness which was very refined and tasty. Starting with the scone, it was freshly baked, soft, sweet and buttery. The sweets were decent; the black sesame choux was light and airy, mildly sweet and nutty; yuzu macaron has a strong citrus taste; and the layered dark chocolate cake was not too sweet. Didn't enjoy the cheese tart as it was too cheesy for me, overpowering the sweetness of the apricot jam. As for the savoury bites, favourite was surprisingly the carrot and feta tartlet. The rest were ok; both the teriyaki chicken and the ramen egg salad sandwich were too heavy on the creamy mayo sauce, especially the ramen egg salad filling which didn't have much texture; spam onigiri tasted plain; and the smoked trout taiyaki was dense and dry. Overall the high tea was just ok, very pricey as there was not a lot of food; and the drink refill is only limited to the same loose leaf tea you have selected. The staff looking after my table was kind to get me a flat white when I enquired about the coffee section of the high tea menu which is usually not included as you can only pick one hot tea or coffee. Highlight for me was the scone and the Karigane green tea; would come back just for the tea. Also the booking page for the high tea should be updated to mention the 10% weekend surcharge as it only states the surcharge for Sundays and public holidays.

We had a fantastic high tea experience here. Each bite was delicious and very high quality. The scone was warm and hands down the best scone I've ever had - super buttery and decadent. Service was attentive and warm - they very kindly gave us a round of drinks on the house when they realised we were celebrating a hens. Not the cheapest high tea experience but we enjoyed it immensely!
