We came to the last session and were very disappointed to find that there was no popcorn available. Popcorn is a basic part of the cinema experience, and it was frustrating that it wasn’t offered at all.
It felt as though the popcorn machine may have been turned off early because it was close to closing time, which is disappointing for customers who paid for a full session. Overall, this really took away from the experience.

I hate giving bad reviews but my experience here I feel deserves it. Definitely one of those places you wonder if their good reviews are fake. We had to sit through an entire 3 hour movie with no air conditioning & their cinema was hotter than a sauna. After bringing it to the staff’s attention it still wasn’t turned on & we came out of the cinema sweating. Not to mention the horrible crowd this place attracts, feels like something out of hunger games

Wednesday’s are $10 tickets @palacecinemas and I made the most of it by viewing #thephoenicianscheme
For this review I’m focussing on #palacecinemacomo in #southyarra
I’ve already reviewed Palace’s Moonee Ponds cinema and this cinema is quite different in decor. The area is known for its high end shops and pricey real estate and this cinema reflects the local trends with its opulence, luxurious decor and arty furnishings, including a baby grand, velvet seating, chandeliers and chaise lounges.
The movie was held in one of their largest so lacked atmosphere with all 8 of us. The seats were comfortable but not reclining although I imagine there are recliners in others. Sound system and screen clear. Best to book seats in the middle to maximise your viewing experience.
Located within the Como Complex, plenty of access to coffee shops downstairs or out on #toorakroad or #chapelstreet which are abundant.
There is a platinum service but it’s out of my budget, but no doubt is quite unique.
I caught the train which stops at South Yarra then a quick 5 minute walk to the cinema. Trams also pass by on the Toorak Road and Chapel Street lines. Parking within Como is $10 if you have your ticket validated.
Room for improvement: cleaning between sessions. Finding popcorn in your seat is off putting.
Notes: wheelchair and disabled friendly with seating to cater for every need. Kid friendly. Toilets clean and disabled facility available.

Grace and I had an amazing time at the opening night of the British Film Festival. The chairs are comfy, the sound system is good and the screen is big and clear.
What we loved most was the decor. Como is elegant and arty. We just had to take a few pics around the place. Just walking around before the show was quite the adventure.

Como is one of my favourite cinemas in Melbourne. Located at a good venue. Spacious and easy to access. They provide parking discount for film goers too. Staff is nice and helpful. Seats are comfortable. Will definitely keep coming back.
