lovely place to eat! we started off with the kingfish sashimi which was delicious. for mains we got the crab yellow rice and prawn egg noodles. the noodles were amazing, can’t fault it a single bit. the rice was also good, however they could’ve incorporated the crab a bit better rather than throwing it on top. the menu was good but would’ve liked to see an option where u could pick your meat of choice but other than that the service and ambience were both great, would recommend.

I was told by a former local that "Flinders lane has most of the famous and well known Melbourne restaurants- can be a bit more pricey but worth it for the experience- and that Chin Chin is a Melbourne icon on this street."
I personally travel/eat out often and it's rare that I'm wowed by a single dish but the crispy barramundi, green apple, caramelized pork salad blew me away. I've never had anything like it.
Edit: I came back two days later, got the "Chicken, lemongrass, spring onion, cashew, green nahm jim, and coconut salad" and it was equally amazing, this place is great.
-came back a third time in the same week as I required more Chin Chin, for the dry red curry of roasted pumpkin, it was good but not mind blowing. Can't win them all!

Our dining experience was exceptional. Upon arrival and being seated we were greeted with our waiter. I explained that as I was a Coeliac and had soy and peanut allergies, and the gorgeous waiter asked if it was ok that he took away the menu to cross out what I couldn’t have. This was so very accommodating and made my final meal choices hassle free and straight forward. He didn’t have to go this extra mile, but he did and this is what I call exceptional service. The food was of top quality and the serving sizes were simply perfect.
I loved the vibe and atmosphere of the venue and whilst it was busy, it still felt relaxing and welcoming.
I will definitely return when I’m back in Melbourne.

Been about 8 years since I came to Chin Chin and this place has never disappointed. I had the swordfish sashimi and it was absolutely fantastic. The sauce was the kicker with a mix of Thai spicyness and sour flavour and coupled with the freshness of the swordfish, it was absolutely divine!
I also had the twice-cooked bbq lamb and it was unique! The lamb was soft, succulent and flavourful but I felt that it lacked a bit of punch. The chickpea and eggplant dip made up for it, combining this into a great dish.
Now, the rock-hard old fashioned cocktail was the highlight for me. Combining whisky, cognac and maple is an absolute delicious idea!
If you're looking for a great place to unwind and have a great meal, definitely head to Chin Chin!

Sat outside and definitely the right choice because it seemed a bit too loud inside for any conversation. The service was quick and the waiters were very attentive. The food was delicious (I am Thai)! Initially I expected an Asian fusion but the menu is predominantly Thai only, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! Ordered the Padseew and fish with egg fried rice.
