I ordered from GYG Moonee Ponds on 25th December morning at around 8am. Most of the outlets showed the were closed with few exceptions, Moonee ponds was one of them and was charged a 15% public holiday surcharge. The app and online store showed the outlet as open, payment went through, and my money was debited.
I then drove 17 minutes to the store only to find it completely closed, with no notice and no way to contact anyone. Calls went unanswered. Left voicemails to the head office no response.
I called the next day to get my refund. The manager answered but showed no responsibility or empathy, simply telling me to “write a message on the app” and saying they had nothing to do with it. No apology for the inconvenience or for misleading information.
Very poor customer service, no compassion, no accountability, and no follow-up calls. This experience was frustrating and disappointing.

Every single time I make the mistake of buying food from this place, it’s a complete disappointment. This is probably the fifth time, and without fail, the portion sizes are an absolute joke. I’ve been to multiple other GYG locations, and none of them operate with this level of stinginess and incompetence. What you serve here is embarrassing.
Ordering nachos is especially insulting. The box is flooded with chips (no surprise there cause the chips are the cheapest), while the actual toppings are almost non-existent. The grilled chicken? Practically invisible. You could literally count the beans in the box, and the guacamole is so scarce it’s laughable. This isn’t “portion control” , it’s blatant corner-cutting.
And before you come back with the predictable “you could’ve made it at home” excuse, no. If this is how you run a business, maybe you should close the store altogether. The staff act as if the ingredients are coming out of their own pockets, obsessively rationing food like it’s a survival bunker. Do they buy the supplies themselves? Is that why customers are served the bare minimum every single time?
This isn’t just poor service; it’s a serious operational failure. At the very least, hire staff who actually understand what they’re doing and know how to serve a proper portion. Right now, this store is nothing more than a disappointment factory.

AMAZING!! Everyone there was super polite and friendly, felt very welcome and food was astoundingly good (crispy chicken tender tacos are the best), will definitely be coming back 😁 if you haven’t experienced this place yet you MUST!!!

As a big fan of Guzman y Gomez, I had a great experience at their vibrant outlet. The colorful graffiti gave off true Mexican vibes, and the staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered six soft tacos (grilled and crispy chicken) for takeaway—though they softened a bit by the time I got home, they were still delicious! The crispy chicken tacos, especially with their tasty sauce, were a standout. I haven’t tried any other items except tacos, but based on this experience, I’ll definitely be back. Limited dine-in space, but highly recommended for taco lovers!
