This is a well working place that I wish can provide a much better coffee. The food is always 10/10 but the coffee.... My 1st Magic coffee came in a mug. I did ask the young guy if he know what magic is. I also recommend him to use Google. I was told that they have to do it this way as the head office instruct the store. The photo of my magic in the 3rd time will present lack of technic with the milk starching & the flavor present a used milk in the jug! BTW the coffee bland is nice & should be presented in the coffee.

Visited Lauren Café in Camberwell and tried the Roast Vegetable & Feta Tart, Guido Petit, a Flat White, and a Matcha Latte.
The Flat White was average — smooth enough but lacking depth, and the latte art looked quite amateurish. The Matcha Latte was the biggest disappointment: very watery, with a hint of spice that didn’t belong. It tasted nothing like authentic Japanese matcha — more like a flavored milk with green coloring.
The tarts were fine, though nothing particularly memorable. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was nice, but overall, the food and drinks didn’t live up to the price.
👉 A good place for a quiet chat, but not for those seeking great coffee or real matcha flavor.

The food, bakery and desserts looks so appealing. Ambient is comfortable. Price is reasonable. Croissant tasted great. Coffee is well made. Great place to sit down and catch up.

Disappointing Experience with Catering Order at Laurent
I placed a catering order with Laurent on August 12 for an essential official event, scheduled for pickup on the 25th. Their online ordering system clearly states that catering orders should be placed at least three days in advance, so I made sure to order well ahead of time, thinking everything would be smooth.
Unfortunately, only part of it was ready when we arrived to collect the order. We were supposed to receive:
40 mini ham and cheese croissants
10 mini spinach & feta quiches
1 large Castel cake
But only the cake and quiches were available. Apparently, the croissant portion of the order was never actually processed internally—despite having confirmation. This was for a formal event, so you can imagine how frustrating this was.
After waiting over 10 minutes, they gave us 20 large ham and cheese croissants cut in half to compensate for the missing minis. It wasn't what we ordered, but we didn’t have a choice then. The staff was unhappy. There was no offer of compensation—just a simple apology.
For a place with such a good reputation, this was a really disappointing experience, primarily when you’re relying on them for something time-sensitive and professional. I hope they take steps to prevent this kind of mix-up in the future.

The cakes are amazing! The
They may be a bit pricey, but I have had much dearer ones elsewhere.
Can't comment on the cafe service as I have not dined in-house at Laurent.
Accepting cash would be good as it means not having to pay the card surcharge.
