I love the pies. They are one of the best pies I have ever had. My husband who is very picky loved the pies too. Highly recommend the pulled beef with merlot and beef brisket pies.

We had several pies and a sausage roll on our visit to Magnum. Great atmosphere and great service. The Saltbush lamb ragu was delicious and like no other lamb pie Ive had. The mince brisket was tasty , juicy and also delicious. The pork and cheese smelt weird and out of place but it surprised the heck out of us because the taste worked and worked really well. Our lunch was almost perfect, almost. The sausage roll, whilst quite tasty, was a tad dry. Was it an aberration or do Magnum make it leaner than other bakeries, not sure, will have to give it another go down the track. All in all, a great place for premium pies.

Magnum PI is doing some solid, innovative pies with a twist. Haven’t been to many places like this, but I really enjoyed the Provolone Cheese Pie I grabbed — and props, mine came straight out of the oven so it was as fresh as it gets. Cheese melted perfectly over the shredded pulled beef filling, honestly felt like a fine-dining pie. The beef itself leaned a bit too sweet for me, but the provolone and the pastry balanced it out nicely. Prices sit around $10 a pie (a couple $ more depending on what you get). One or two will definitely fill you up, so value-wise it’s not bad. Came back another day and tried the Merlot Pie, which was alright — didn’t quite hit the same explosiveness as the Provolone but still decent. Also got the Jalapeño Pie with cheese, and realised the ones with melted cheese inside just hit different — cheese with fillings generally makes the flavour pop more. Still, for me, this has been one of the more enjoyable pies I’ve had at bakeries — something different and unique in the pie space. • Provolone Cheese Pie – 5★ • Merlot Pie – 3.5★ • Jalapeño Pie – 4★

My son and I drove a long distance to taste these pies as they were listed as one of the top 3 pies in Melbourne. We chose 4 pies to try (bangers & mash, cauliflower & cheese, pulled beef & cheese, chicken & mushroom. The flavors were creative and very tasty, with lovely pastry, but sadly, all the pies were just barely lukewarm. We'll be back another day to sample some more of the baked-on-the-premises pies.
