I had organised a catch-up with some cycling buddies as it's been a while since we've caught up. So I decided on SL. I ordered the ACAI bowl which I enjoyed but. I was glad it was different than other places that I've been at. It's good to see others do it different with fresh ACAI instead of frozen. Ask the other boys for something different and they all enjoyed their meals. My mocha was great as well. It was a good catch up. I will go again with the Mrs one day.

Their food is okay. Fritters is 6/10, but my partner complimented the fetta cream. I’m more impressed with the chicken burger as the chicken was crispy and went well with the sauce and veggies. I love the chips, crispy!!! The matcha latte is 5/10, not particularly special, and tastes powdery.

Silver Linings Café wants to be good, and the food almost gets it there. The eggs were fine, seasoned right, cooked well. Then came the dehydrated orange, sitting on the plate like a bad idea that no one questioned. If it’s on the plate, it should be edible. Simple rule. Service was the kind that makes you sigh. A drink spilled, no napkin, no reaction. Menus sticky. Floor grimy, like it hadn’t seen a mop all week. You start noticing the dirt once you’ve finished the food, which tells you something about the place. The kitchen has skill, no doubt. But until the staff care as much about the space as they do the eggs, Silver Linings will stay a “what could’ve been” café.

If you’re looking for the best brunch in Melbourne, this is it! Food is beautifully prepared and presented and tastes just as good as it looks. Pleasant and attentive staff. Great value for money too.
