Greeted in the early morning on a Monday by a smiling face and wonderful customer service. I decided to dine in and sit outside where I was immediately ushered to my seat, served water and asked what I would like. The coffee here is rich and old school. Served not too hot always with your taste in mind. This place does get very busy, so make sure you know that before you arrive during peak times. Prices are reasonable and Carter Lovett is certainly worth a visit if you're stopping by.

We had brunch at Carter Lovett in Elsternwick and were really impressed. Even though it was busy, the service was excellent and the coffees and water kept coming without us needing to ask. The vegetarian options were outstanding. The mushrooms on sourdough were packed with flavour, and the vegetarian sardines-on-toast were a real standout, rich, hearty and beautifully presented. Fresh pastries rounded it out perfectly with some of the best coffee we’ve had locally. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, with a real buzz that makes you want to stay longer. Generous serves, attentive staff, and food that feels both thoughtful and delicious. A true local gem.

Dropped into elesternwick having not been for a while for some lunch. Intended to go to Hanoi Hannah but after having been ingnored, then skipped and then told to wait 5 minutes for a table in an empty dining room, I said no thanks. So across the road to Carter Lovett. So happy to see a bunch of staff that used to run a cafe in my neighbourhood. Professional service, gear food (the mushroom croquette) and a nice vibe. Forgot how good this place is.
