I had the roast lamb in turkish bread which was loaded with tasty meat. We were also offered a free sample eclair to try which was nice going well with my iced coffee and Noah's green juice. The place is kept clean.

This morning around 10:00 am, I visited this Laurent café Balwyn store with my son for breakfast. The store was not busy at the time. When we ordered, the female staff member (long blonde hair in a ponytail) was noticeably cold and unfriendly. We didn’t make an issue of it and took our seats. However, while sitting there, I observed her serving white customers with a completely different attitude — warm, friendly, and even wishing them “Happy New Year” as they left. Later, I returned to the counter to buy an extra bread to take away. Unfortunately, her attitude toward me was again very cold. After processing the card payment, she handed over the item without a word and walked away. I don’t consider myself overly sensitive and truly hope this was just an isolated incident. However, as a customer, the experience was disappointing. We have visited other Laurent locations many times and have never felt this way. I hope no other customers have a similar experience.

Friendly, prompt service. The pain au chocolat was delicious, and warmed-up. The flat-white was strong and creamy. Recommended.

Today 10/11 I ordered an English Breakfast tea and also food. When the tea arrived I poured it into a cup. The cup was not full so I asked the staff member who was working on the Expresso machine (mid age female) if I could please have some extra boiling water so I could fill my cup. As I went to hand her the teapot, her response was quite shocking and never experienced before in any cafe or restaurant. Her terse response was “you need to pay for boiling water”. I was totally shocked about this response from a Laurent staff member. I will never ever visit this cafe again.

The price is ridiculous . 2 tarts for $28.8 2 danish for $16.56 Can you imagine for a kids fist size tart costs more than $14 each??!!! Price were not displayed along with the food. Only find out after paid. I understand ANZAC day may have surcharge, but it doesn’t say on the receipt. So the surcharge is like 100%?
