Massive shout out to Karen. This was the best dinner to end 2024 on! The service was 100%, chef 100%, sake recommendations 100%, music 100%... Honestly was AMAZING. Being from Perth, I was not expecting much from a "mall restaurant". WOW was I wrong! This was an experience in and of itself and the food was superb delicious.

bitterly disappointed. cannot get to the review proper without being gutted by being served a horrid, 7-year old bottle of dassai 39 sake. 7. years. old. $140 a bottle, which is a decent price…retails 70ish. but it came out stale, musty and yellow. absolutely woeful. i just don’t know why places cut corners like this. and there’s absolutely no way i could argue this because it has to be the most exxy item on the menu and id just be accused of being a loafer. ordered smaller bottle of kubota after drinking 30ml of the dassai. made sure to check the brew date on this one, but then again, why is that for me to check? much, much better and brewed in 2022, which is still not ideal but better than a $140 bottle i couldn’t drink. can’t be bothered mentioning the food because i was so disheartened by the sake. super poor attention to detail in stock and i’m the poor mug who has to pay for it. really don’t know what to say other than that. i’m sure there will be the inevitable apology but apologies aren’t bankable. service staff were good. bang. $280. thanks for coming. edit: owners have posted a tepid response about aged sake (which is known as koshu) and 2-4 year drinking window, which is absolutely garbage. there’s nothing worse than a joint like this not owning a foul-up, but instead, making it my fault because “some guests appreciate aged sake” you sold me a $140 bottle of sake that was 7 years past it’s brew date. own the error, at the very least. you’re an utter disgrace for even trying to palm this off as an ‘aged sake’ misunderstanding. keep track of your stock and stop trying to do over genuine customers. downgraded food from 1 star to 0 because they’re disingenuous.

I had the signature creamy Lobster broth with Level 2 spice, Pork Gyoza and Edamame. Food came out fast. Lobster tail was a bit tough as expected from Lobster but overarching all delicious. Smooth creamy texture of the broth with ramen noodles cooked to perfection was a unique experience.

I liked the food here, their spicy crab ramen was really flavorful. Takoyaki & squid tasted really great as well. Too bad they don't have okonomiyaki that time, i was craving for that so bad. Service was really good people are very nice & greeted warmly. the ordering system is very organized since they will just give you a tablet for the menu & order. Location was very convenient since it's just inside Melbourne Central. So far everything I ate here met my expectations , except the peach sangria i find it lacking of alcohol, like it didn't have any tini-tiny kick at all, still taste good tho.

I suppose you can say unabara and gyoza gyoza operate as a single restaurant? Lobster ramen here is good. The only lobster ramen in Melbourne. The usual pork bone broth is replaced by a lobster version but it's not as flavorful as the pork broth. The noodles and the whole dish is still lipsmackingly delicious. Wash down the ramen with matcha soft serve. Good stuff here.
