Terms of use

Rules for using FoodScout and its Melbourne dining data.

Last updated: 25 June 2026

These terms govern your use of foodscout.au and related FoodScout services ("the service"). By accessing the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

The service

FoodScout provides dining discovery, venue information, editorial content, and tools for venue owners. Listings combine public data, user contributions, and automated research. We aim for accuracy but do not guarantee that every detail (hours, menus, prices, dietary information) is current or complete. Always confirm with the venue before visiting.

Accounts

You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping sign-in credentials secure. You must provide accurate information and not impersonate others.

User content

Reviews, claims, and other material you submit must be honest and lawful. You grant FoodScout a non-exclusive licence to display, adapt, and distribute that content in connection with the service. We may remove content that is abusive, misleading, or infringes rights.

Venue owners

Claiming a venue requires that you are authorised to represent that business. We may request verification and revoke access if a claim is disputed or fraudulent. See claim a venue for the current process.

Acceptable use

Do not scrape the site in ways that harm performance, attempt unauthorised access, reverse engineer paid integrations, or use the service for spam or illegal activity.

Intellectual property

FoodScout branding, software, and original editorial content remain our property or our licensors'. Venue names, trademarks, and third-party data belong to their respective owners.

Disclaimer

The service is provided "as is" to the extent permitted by law. FoodScout is not liable for decisions you make based on venue information, health or allergy considerations, or third-party services linked from the site.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted under Australian Consumer Law, our liability for any claim arising from use of the service is limited to resupplying the service or, where that is not reasonable, AUD $100.

Changes and termination

We may change these terms or discontinue features. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We may suspend access for breach of these terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Disputes are subject to the courts of Victoria.
