The Sporting Globe Bar & Grill Frankston

I’m not usually one to write reviews but I thought this deserved one, if not for anything else but to improve on how to handle issues that arise as people are dining. I want to preface my review by saying all of the wait staff were lovely and I do not at all blame them for any of this, as I know most things were out of their control. I was fairly disappointed with my first dining experience here. Firstly, it took a very long time for our drinks to come out and then when they did, one of them was missing which led to me having to go up to the bar, waiting nearly 5 minutes for anyone to serve me so I could ask for it. Maybe an understaffing issue, but there was no one in front of me waiting to order so it was a bit frustrating. Another drink also had been ordered and needed mint which the bar didn’t have, so someone from my table had to wait for someone to go to the supermarket and buy it before they received their drink. Once the meals came out, I cut into my steak which I had asked to come Medium Rare and to my surprise, it was Well Done. I didn’t eat any of it and notified one of the waitresses that then went and spoke to her manager, only to be told that my most recent drink (that had also been missed on the last round and had to be asked about) would be on the house, but that’s the best they could do. I appreciate that they tried to fix it but that didn’t make up for my steak. As it had already been paid for through the QR code, I was stuck eating a meal I didn’t enjoy and paid almost $50 for. One of the other people from my tables meals was completely missed and only came out as everyone else was finishing theirs. I do understand that we were a group of 12 so it was a large table, but I was pretty disappointed. We did however enjoy the darts upstairs after eating. I’m certainly hesitant to return but hope that if I do I see improvements.

I’m so thankful to have a sports bar in Franga! I love this place; I've been a few times. Thivika was an awesome table host! She did a great job communicating our orders and checking up on us to ensure everything was okay. She was friendly and respectful, and we really enjoyed our experience tonight! See ya soon 🫶🏽✌🏽

Been a few times for a drink, which has been great every time, Went tonight for Tuesdays half price steak night, the steak was delicious, the service was fast, the staff are fantastic and the atmosphere is awesome. Definitely will be back

My daughter recently had her 18th birthday here with about 40 family members in attendance. From the moment we arrived staff were helpful and friendly, everyone ordered their own food and said it was amazing, and despite 40 orders coming in their was no huge wait time on the food. The staff continued to be helpful and accomodating throughout the party right to the end offering to help my mum to carry her bag to her car. It wasn’t understaffed which was noticeable, as too many places are these days. Overall it was an amazing experience and we will be back!! It was also great to watch the Big Bash Cricket on the big screens while we were celebrating!

Nice and clean venue. The male waiter who served us was great — friendly, helpful and very patient. We couldn’t find a kids menu, so he read it out to us from his screen and took our order without any issue. Unfortunately, the positives ended there. It was Friday night and the venue advertises $30 cocktail jugs. We ordered the Big Summer Fling, which is described on the menu as Smirnoff vodka, Malibu, pink grapefruit, lime and pineapple juice — sounded tropical and refreshing. What arrived at the table was an orange-coloured base in the bottom of the jug, topped up with soda water. It wasn’t even mixed — we had to stir it ourselves with a fork. The drink tasted almost entirely like soda water, with no noticeable juice, Malibu, or alcohol. We raised our concern with a waitress, who shrugged and said, “Yeah, there’s only a very small amount of alcohol in it, so you won’t taste the alcohol— the card at the bar says fill with soda water.” I explained that this is not how the drink is described on the menu, which makes no mention of being mostly soda water. She shrugged again and said she could add a little more pineapple juice — which never happened. There was no offer to remake the drink, swap it for something else, or resolve the issue in any meaningful way. We were left paying for a jug of soda water with a “splash” of the advertised ingredients. To make matters worse, we later found out she was the manager. This is not an acceptable way to handle customer concerns. The experience alone is why this is a 1-star review. We also didn’t know that the kids meal we purchased came with either a kids dessert or mini football - it was never offered to us.
