Sher Singh is a great place in Melbourne if you’re craving rich, authentic Punjabi food with bold flavours. The restaurant has a warm, vibrant atmosphere that matches the style of the cuisine, making it a nice spot for both casual meals and group dining.
The food is the main highlight. The curries are full of flavour, well-spiced, and feel close to traditional North Indian/Punjabi cooking rather than a watered-down version. The gravies are thick and satisfying, and the portions are generous, making it good value for money. The breads are fresh and pair well with the curries, and the menu has a good mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options.
Service was friendly and efficient. Staff were helpful when it came to recommendations and checking spice levels, which is always appreciated. Even during busy hours, the service felt organised and attentive.
The interior is clean and colourful, with a lively vibe, but it’s still comfortable enough to sit and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. It can get busy during peak dinner times, which shows how popular the place is, so a short wait is possible.
Overall, Sher Singh is a solid choice for Punjabi food in Melbourne. If you enjoy hearty curries, bold spices, and generous portions, this place is definitely worth visiting. It’s especially good for sharing dishes with friends or family and enjoying a proper North Indian meal.

We sat down at a tabke after 30 minites of waiting, and for another 20 minutes no one came over to take our orders. Then we ordered and had to waot another 20-30 minutes to get our drinks and appetizer. I must say the only good food we had the veggie samosa! We also ordered a chicken tikka which was nothing like the usual masala that I've ever had, and I've tried indian food in almost every continent! It looked like they had used chicken beriani meat for tikka! The Tikka sauce was full of large pieces of onions and pepper with maybe 3 pieces of chicken! I asked the waiter to recommend a dish like Rogen Josh, and she said that they actually had that dish. So I was completely shocked when she brought our food and their Lamb Rogan Josh had a creamy sauce! It too had 4 pieces of meat but all with bones! We had to spend some time to find some meat on those bones! And the meat was very hard! Later when I asked for the bill it said that the dish was actually Lamb Qorma!

We had dinner at Sher Singh and tried their curries, naan, and starters. The curries were average and nothing exceptional, and I felt they were a bit overpriced. However, the chat papdi and pani puri were delicious and definitely worth the price. The seating arrangement is good, and the customer service was satisfactory. The restaurant is located in a beautiful area with both indoor and outdoor seating options. There’s plenty of free parking nearby, but finding a spot can be a bit of a challenge.

5-Star Review for Sher Singh Indian Restaurant
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
What a delightful surprise Sher Singh turned out to be! We walked in without a reservation on a busy evening, and the staff couldn’t have been more welcoming—they squeezed us in with a smile and made us feel right at home.
Kicking things off, the veg and non-veg platters were an absolute hit. Crispy, flavorful starters that perfectly whetted our appetite without overwhelming it. But the real stars? The main courses. Every dish was a flavor explosion—the non-veg options literally melted in your mouth, tender and spiced to perfection. And those veg koftas? Oh man, they were stuffed with the most delicious, savory filling that had us scraping the bowl clean. Speaking of which, check out the pic below of our empty serving bowl—proof that the portions were generous and guilt-free!
The ambiance is cozy with that authentic Indian vibe, and the service was attentive without being overbearing. If you’re craving bold, home-style Indian cuisine that hits all the right notes, Sher Singh is a must-try. We’ll definitely be back soon—highly recommend! 🇮🇳🍛

I had great expectations from this place, judging by the reviews online, but all I got was disappointment (mostly). The Dahi Kebabs as the starter were really good but were let down by the BBQ sauce on top. This is Indian cuisine, not a Bunnings bbq. Leave the BBQ sauce at home.
The hari mirch chicken tikka was rubbish. The chicken needs to be marinated for a few hours, if not overnight. What was served was just chicken dipped in some green chutney and cooked in the tandoor. The marinade had not been absorbed by the chicken.
The butter chicken was the highlight. It was one of the best I have had. Good job on that.
The dal makhani had way too much masala. It wasn't spicy, it just had lot of spices. Dal makhani is supposed to be a mild dish. And the last dish, the navratan korma, had an overpowering cardamom flavour. But that's just me and my wife... We like the cardamom flavour but don't want it as the main spice in our dish.
The food, as you can see, wasn't great, so I'm giving only 2 stars.
We really wanted to give them this feedback but unfortunately no one came to ask us how the food was or if we wanted anything else. So that's another 2 stars gone.
Nah... Won't be returning here. Don't bother with this place. Plenty of other good Indian restaurants around!
