We ordered a roasted cheese koththu for dine-in, but it was extremely bitter, over-fried, and completely inedible. All three of us on the table agreed there was something over-fried (look at the photo). When we returned it, the staff said they would check and remake it, but instead they brought back the same koththu and claimed it was “very tasty” and normal. As Sri Lankans, we know exactly how cheese koththu should taste, so this was unacceptable. It honestly felt like they said it was tasty just to avoid making another koththu for us. I would like to ask the staff to be honest when running a business. We are all human, everything is not about money. Although we finally received a refund, the customer service was very poor and disappointing.

A truly authentic Sri Lankan restaurant offering delicious, well-prepared dishes that capture the genuine flavours of home. The food was consistently fresh, and the trays were promptly replenished as soon as they ran low. I arrived just before the lunch closing time and still experienced the same warm service and full variety of dishes, which I greatly appreciated. The restaurant itself is relatively small, and enhancing the overall atmosphere, particularly around the dessert station and sink area—could further elevate the dining experience. However, this does not take away from the quality of the food, which was outstanding throughout. Overall, the flavours, freshness, and service exceeded expectations, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a true Sri Lankan culinary experience.

Food is tasty. However, the customer service is really bad now. I used to be a regular customer but no longer buy food from this shop. That is because of the bad customer service. I once bought their String Hoppers deal, and when I ordered it, the pork curry tray was almost empty. I ordered it thinking the staff serving the food would go to the kitchen and bring a new one, but one of the staff members (Chathuri—I found her name recently in a video, that’s why I’m mentioning it) scraped the tray, filled the container halfway, and charged me the full price. I also used to work in a Sri Lankan restaurant when I first came to Australia, and the owner lady always told us to charge half if we did not have enough food to fill the container. Anyway, another day I went there to buy food, and the same staff member (Chathuri) served me that day too. She barely filled the container and still charged me the full price. That was the last day I visited the restaurant. The way she treats customers feels very rude too. Other staff members never did these things. Even though the food is good, I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone anymore.

I recently purchased watalappam from Cinnamon Gate, and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had with food from a shop. The watalappam was extremely over-sweet, with a strange artificial taste. Overall, the food quality was very poor, not just this item but the general standard of food as well. The most serious issue is that after eating it, I became very sick. I spent the entire night vomiting, my stomach became hard and painful, and I ended up throwing up everything I had eaten that day. This was a severe reaction and raised serious concerns about food hygiene and safety. On top of that, the customer service was absolutely terrible. The staff were rude, unhelpful, and had a strong attitude. There was no basic courtesy, no willingness to listen, and no professionalism. Instead of addressing concerns politely, they made the experience even worse with their behaviour. Between the poor-quality food, the health issues it caused, and the extremely rude customer service, I would strongly advise people to avoid this place. Very disappointing and unacceptable experience. I will not be returning.
