Went to the 24/7 Guzman y Gomez in Malvern just after midnight and left with mixed feelings.
Food
• Ordered 2 x $3 tacos with lime – great little snack, good flavour and excellent value for the price.
• The spicy cheese quesadilla ($5) was really nice, with a good kick and a solid vegetarian option.
• The BBQ chicken double taco (no BBQ sauce, as requested) was pretty good – chicken was cooked well, flavours worked together and the portion size was decent for what you pay.
Overall, the food was fresh and tasty and I was happy with what I ordered.
Service, dine-in speed & order accuracy
The main issue was the wait time. We waited around 35 minutes for our dine-in order, even though the kitchen didn’t look very busy. I followed up a few times and it still took ages to come out. For GYG at around midnight, 35+ minutes is pretty unreasonable.
To their credit, staff were friendly and polite, and the order accuracy was perfect – they removed and added everything I requested and all items were served correctly. But the dine-in speed really let the experience down.
Cleanliness
Cleanliness inside was average at best. Quite a few tables had leftover food or mess on them and didn’t seem to be getting wiped down quickly. The toilets were accessible and reasonably clean, which was a positive.
Noise level
At first it was quite noisy due to a loud group, but once they left it became pretty quiet and easy to talk. For around 1am, the atmosphere felt about what you’d expect.
Parking
We arrived about 12:45am and the car park was fairly full but still had some spots left. When we left around 1:30am, there were plenty of free spaces. Parking is generally available, just a bit busy even late at night.
Kid-friendliness
They have an extensive kids’ menu, so it’s clearly set up to be family-friendly earlier in the day/evening.
Wheelchair accessibility
The store is wheelchair accessible, with access from the car park and into the restaurant.
Payment options
They appear to accept both card and cash, with tap-and-go available.
⸻
Overall, the food and value were great, and staff were friendly, but the 35-minute wait for dine-in at midnight and the messy tables really dragged the experience down. I’d recommend this GYG for the fact it’s 24/7 and the food is good, but I’d be cautious about coming here late at night if you’re in a hurry.

I am genuinely shocked by the hygiene standards at this store.
While the staff were wearing gloves, the gloves were clearly misused. I personally witnessed an employee pick up rubbish from the floor and then continue using the same gloves to handle food — without changing them. Ingredients such as chicken, black beans, and tomatoes were grabbed directly by hand instead of using utensils.
This happened at the Malvern East location, and I cannot understand how food is prepared this way for paying customers.
The kitchen benches were covered in food debris, and the dining area was equally concerning — I couldn’t find a single clean table.
The chicken I was served was both burnt and extremely small in portion.
To be honest, I’m relieved I didn’t bring my dog with me today — because even my dog wouldn’t eat this food.
Overall, this place felt unhygienic and poorly managed. I would not recommend it.

*FOOD POISONED.
Usually a good GyG and our family go to. Because it's 2 mins from home.
On this occasion, 2 of us got food poisoning. We'd Ordered 2 x Quesadillas + large chicken burrito Bowl plus an extra serve of ground beef, minus the rice.
Both quesadillas looked like they'd been thrown on the floor and rolled into each of the corners of the restaurant, then wrapped in foil. They both were broken into pieces, chicken had completely fallen out of the wraps, and the wrap actually had dirt on them. The burrito bowl, came out with cold chicken and cold beef. The lettuce was basically all core (the crown). Which I can safely say that was also cold, but as you may know, The crown is very bitter and basically inedible.
Both the chicken and ground beef were the tiniest servings I'd ever actually seen.
We asked the young lady at the drive thru for 2 x habanero sauce (sachets). She proceeded to fill 2 small cardboard containers with 3 milliliters or the sauce.
They hadn't leaked
Nonetheless we got to our destination, zapped all the food in the microwave because we hoped that would kill any bacteria. Without a second to lose, we chowed down the food as we were famished.
That was all we'd eaten that day as had just returned from camping (6 hour drive)
A day later both of us who ate were nauseous and diarrhoea soon followed.
Fair to say a pretty horrific experience.
Only as this GyG is close to home will we try this place again. But it will be the venues last chance to save us as a customer!

Went through the GYG drive-thru tonight for dinner and the staff were wonderful — really great customer service! We ordered a large meal and the food was delicious. The service was very fast with hardly any wait time. The only small issue was that one of the burritos we asked for with no guac had guac on it, but aside from that everything was excellent — amazing food, lovely staff, and super quick service!

GYG Malvern East is everyone's favourite, so is mines.
More so cos their Chicken is Halal (just chicken though).
We absolutely love GYG! Their quesadillas and tacos are always a hit in our household. We usually get a mix of soft and hard tacos because, well, everyone has their favourite.
Just last week we tried their new Chicken Caesar Salad and oh my God, what a salad! Fresh, tasty, and super satisfying.
Our regular go-to is the loaded nacho fries, honestly addictive. The customer service is always friendly and efficient, even when they’re super busy. And yes, they’re ALWAYS busy!
NOTE: Plenty of parking, but the drive-thru line is constantly packed. Cclearly once people try GYG, they give up cooking at home, like us! 🤣 Highly recommended!
