I ordered the Charcoal Grilled Eel, Mixed Katsu, and a side of Salmon Sashimi.
While the Teishoku was well-structured and presented nicely, the main dishes themselves felt a bit underwhelming in terms of culinary expertise—they didn't quite live up to the standard of a specialty restaurant.
Service-wise, it was a mixed bag. Except for one Korean male staff member, I found it difficult to feel any genuine warmth or professionalism from the rest of the team. For me, the atmosphere and hospitality of a restaurant are just as important as the food, and unfortunately, this experience fell short. I don’t think I’ll be returning.

First time here. Grateful they managed to fit us in at 5pm for a 1 hour seating, before their actual bookings. Pictured is the pork katsu and a mixed katsu (chefs selection). Overall I think the meal was put together very nice and presented well. Katsu was very nice, crispy skin and tender meat. If I was to nitpick, maybe the soy source in the plastic was a strange way to present that, gives it a slightly less premium appeal, wasabi was great however.
Staff were friendly. There are a couple of weekend surcharges and card processing fees here to note. Would potentially come here again.

You have to scan the QR code on the generic menu which will list the days’ specials, side dishes and dessert.
There is something nice about having only to decide your mains and nothing else. Everything else comes with it. One can just sit back and relax a little.
Ordered:
2 x charcoal grilled eel
1 x charcoal grilled miso salmon
Both were grilled well, the eel was not overly sweet and the salmon was well prepped and not overly salty.
All the side dishes and desserts were great except for the broccoli - the dashi sauce had no flavour - the dish just tastes of katsuobushi.
The Agedashi Tofu was good. Generous portion for a side dish. A thicker more syrupy sauce rather than the thinner soya based sauce.
The drinks were very refreshing.
Good polite service. Meals served promptly. Did not feel rushed despite being busy.
10% weekend surcharge plus eftpos surcharges.

GOOD JAPANESE CAFE ON QUEENSBERRY ST
Torissong is an unassuming but popular cafe serving a small but decent range of set meals (with some side options).
modern comfortable dining room with decent spacing between tables. Staff are attentive and polite.
QR codes on table for menu browsing. Pay on departure. Meal served on a tray. Nice selection of items and decent serving sizes. Not noisy and people with mobility issues should manage OK here. I recommend that you book ahead on busy evenings (Friday & Sat especially).
Paid parking on street not too bad and fairly inexpensive.

Torissong is one of those rare restaurants that immediately captures your attention and leaves a lasting impression long after the meal is over. From the moment the first dish arrives, it’s clear that this is a place where flavor, creativity, and craftsmanship come together effortlessly. What stood out to me most was the incredible range of flavors in every dish — there are so many different elements at play, yet they all blend together in a way that feels harmonious rather than overwhelming. Each bite reveals something new, and you can genuinely taste the thought and intention behind every combination.
The precision in preparation is equally impressive. Every dish, whether simple or more elaborate, is cooked to perfection. Textures are spot-on, seasoning is balanced, and presentation is elegant without feeling overly fussy. It’s the kind of food that makes you pause for a moment just to appreciate how well everything has been executed.
But beyond the technical excellence, Torissong offers something even more special: an experience that stays with you. You don’t just finish your meal feeling satisfied — you leave already planning your next visit. There’s a welcoming atmosphere, a sense of care, and a consistency in quality that makes you want to return again and again.
Torissong is truly a standout, and I highly recommend it.
