We have booked our Christmas lunch for the previous 3 years. This year was under the new owner and what an absolute shamozel! We booked for our Christmas lunch back in November and payment was demanded immediately. This should have been our first red flag. Early December we attempted to add 2 more people to our booking, this took several phone calls and emails before the owner finally replied 3 days after reading the email. This should have been our second red flag. When we arrived at 2:30pm for our booking we were made to wait outside for 40-50 minutes as the first sitting had not finished. No greeting or Merry Christmas at the door. We were finally seated at a trestle table with no printed menu or Christmas decoration on the table, just white fish and chip paper and only 6 settings for 7 people. We then had to line up for our drinks, only 1 person behind the bar and almost an hour later we obtained our first round of drinks which included a bottle of water for the table. When approached the female owner was rude and dismissive. It was a full house and there was approximately 6 wait staff on the floor and appeared to be only 3 or 4 staff in the kitchen. At 4:35pm our entry of tapas finally arrived, it was delicious other than the over cooked dry Morton bay bugs. My second glass of wine was served in the same glass as my first as they did not have any clean wine glasses left. The husband was more interested in playing in the band instead of helping on the floor in any way shape or form. The band failed to play any Christmas related music and was way too loud for the theme of the day. Unfortunately we left with our main meals and dessert in take away containers at 5:30pm. When I arrived home I discovered that my dessert had been placed into a previously used container. We were given a full refund but it was absolutely not good enough, we will not be returning here again for any occasion in the future.

When you run out of Dory fillets please don't try and pass off Basa (Vietnamese catfish) fillets as Dory. A kilo of Dory cost $64 which you sell per plate at $35. A kilo of Basa costs $8 which you tried to sell as Dory. When I asked waiting staff and the male owner, they checked with the kitchen who confirmed we were served Basa. I can forgive the 2-hour wait for food as the venue was at full capacity for office Xmas parties. I understand there are probably language issues with your kitchen staff but they need to inform front-of-house when menu items are substituted for such a low-grade fish. PS The potato puree is instant mash and sweet capsicum pesto is jarred Ajvar.

We recently held the BusinessWomen of Melbourne's 1st birthday at pier 35 Bar & grill & it was a fantastic event from start to finish. The staff were attentive, forward thinking and planning and nothing was too much trouble. The food was succulent & cooked to perfection & the space is just beautiful. Well done to Danijela and her team on a well orchestrated event that we will definitely remember!

Celebrated my birthday on a Friday and it was magical. Good food, Tapas and Scotch Fillet steak, Shiraz house wine, live music and great ambience. What more could you want.
