Hidden under an apartment building in Melbourne CBD, OMO is a charming retro Japanese teishoku café with warm lighting and a cozy Showa-era vibe. The Cheese Katsu Teishoku was incredible – crispy pork with a gooey cheese “waterfall” inside, so satisfying! The Aburi Salmon Don was fresh and flavourful with salmon roe and wasabi. Loved the Biiru Cream Latte and Matcha Cloud Cold Brew too. Great coffee using ONA beans, beautiful space, and perfect for brunch, lunch or dinner. Highly recommend!

Food was great as well as drinks. Will be back to try them bakery. Love the food and beverage menu choices!! The cafe entrance was pretty but inside the cafe makes you feel little uneasy because everything was so tight and the orangey lights were above your head. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Ps. The toilet was very clean Ps2. Hiyashi Chuka(Japanese cold ramen) is highly recommended!! It was super bomb! So refreshing.

We tried: ☕ Shio Cream Cold Brew – $8.50 This was really good. The cream had a nice balance of salty and sweet, and the flavour worked very well with the coffee. 🍵 Steamed Matcha Latte – $6.80 Good matcha flavour, smooth and comforting. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the staff were friendly, which made the visit even nicer. ⭐ Recommended: Definitely try their Shio Cream Cold Brew.

I absolutely loved the experience at OMO Cafe! This Japanese-inspired spot truly captures the essence of a modern kissaten—it’s cosy, attractive, and offers a quiet escape in the city. Must-Try Menu: Drinks: Their specialty coffee menu is excellent, especially the famous Biiru Cream Latte (House-made Sweet Beer Cream Refreshing Latte) and the Shio Cream Cold Brew. Food/Sweets: The pastries and sweets are wonderful. I tried the Red Velvet Cake and the Vanaila Canele, both were delicious. The service was attentive, and the overall atmosphere is fantastic for working or meeting friends. I appreciate that they are open late (until 9:30 PM!) during the week and weekend. Definitely worth a visit!"

Such a lovely Japanese café around WSP. Everything here feels delicate, clean, and a little special. Loved the Japanese-style Hamburg steak; the sauce was honestly amazing. The fish roe cream pasta was another standout, every strand of pasta was coated in that rich, savoury sauce… so good! And the Shio cream cold brew is a must-try — salty, creamy, and super smooth. Easily one of my new favourite spots in the area!
