We are blown away how retro and amazing the atmosphere is at this restaurant! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and definitely made out dinner so much more enjoyable!!!! We had a total of 6 pizzas, kids ate with smiles on their faces! It was juicy and just right. Cannolie was superb! The house salad was just so so gooooood! Honestly, when I got a first bite of the salad, it felt like I was at my grandmas village where she picked the ingredients from her garden. Definitely recommend this place. Thank you!!!!

After trying many different pizzerias in Melbourne, I can honestly say this is the one that truly brings me back to Italy.
The quality of the ingredients, the raw materials, the flavours and the menu are on another level.
The pizza is incredibly easy to digest, full of flavour and topped generously but what really makes the difference is that you can clearly taste every single ingredient. That kind of balance and quality is very hard to find.
Without a doubt, this is the best pizzeria in Melbourne.

I recently had the pleasure of dining here and was completely blown away by the wood-fired pizza. It was truly amazing perfectly cooked with a fantastic crust and delicious toppings. The size is excellent; it's generous enough for sharing but also perfectly satisfying for one very hungry person.
But the real star of the show was the dessert: the Picsatico Tiramisu. I can confidently say it was the best Tiramisu I have ever had! The flavor was sublime, and the size was beyond expectations a true treat to finish the meal.
While the food is reason enough to visit, the location is also a bonus. It’s pleasantly out of the way, making the walk to the restaurant easy and relaxing, without having to navigate crazy traffic.
I would highly recommend this spot for a great work lunch or a perfect date night. You won't be disappointed.

Visited for lunch and had the bufalina and the marinara pizza. The pizza dough was very good; nice thin toasty base and the crust was soft with a crispy exterior. The toppings for the bufalina was tasty; the tomato base was sweet and mildly tart, buffalo mozzarella was good too but preferred if it was served fresh or baked just slightly towards the end, and would be nice if it had a bit more basil. As for the marinara, the tomato base tasted less sweet and more tart, the herb flavour from the basil and oregano was good but couldn't really taste the garlic. Overall it was a pretty good meal.

What a fantastic experience it was to dine at Matto Napoletano. The staff are so welcoming and jovial. The atmosphere is casual and warm, making it a comfortable place to sit and relax. There was nothing uptight about the place. I ate alone as I’m traveling from interstate for work, yet I didn’t feel alone here. I enjoyed a well-made Hugo-Mint spritz, warm and well-seasoned olives, gnocchi verdi (con guanciale, pesto e stracciatella… Che delizia!), a pizza bufalina, and finished off with a shot of Amaro, an espresso, and pistachio tiramisù.
The pictures should speak for themselves - this is not a place to miss. When you’re feeling like Italian, and scour through the sea of endless Italian restaurants in the Melbourne CBD, I would implore you not to skip over this restaurant. It truly is a gem. Grazie a voi!
