Tried the vegan bánh mì with crispy mushrooms and vegan pâté, which I didn’t expect to enjoy as much as I did—the mushroom and cashew pâté was surprisingly good. I went around 8:00 am, so luckily there was no line. I’ve tried the chicken bánh mì before as well, and it’s definitely a must-try. Prices are fair, around $10 per bánh mì, and the Vietnamese coffee was good too. Overall, a great spot.

Finally tried this popular joint! Proud to say we arrived early and got there when the qeue was just starting. I usually order lemongrass chicken when i het banh mis but this time i gave in to their pork on pork which is their bestseller. Serving was huge! Pickled veggies were fresh and crispy, pork was tasty. I'd prefer my baguette a bit more chewy on the inside but overall loved my first time at lukes. Their viet coffee was also good, just the right amount of strong.

Without a doubt, the best banh mi I’ve ever had is worth the drive to Moonee Ponds to have one. I noticed a couple of little things that put my score to a 5. They place a small label on your pack with your order number, what you ordered, and if you don’t want chilli, for example, it says “no chilli”. I was watching one of the workers making the van meal and observed her placing banh mi on a small set of scales. She picked the roll and added more pork. Quite clearly, they want consistency with the weight of their Banh Mi’s, which is awesome. Obviously, they take pride in their product. The amount of crispy roast pork was phenomenal. It was exploding at the sides, well, not literally, but the filling was magnificent. Well, worth the $12. I’ve heard all these positive reviews about the place, now I can understand why.

Was in Vic for the MotoGP. On the way back from the island I figured it would be a good opportunity to try Melbourne supposedly best banh mi. Just after having the other best in Melbourne east (Springvale) on the way to the island. I can say Luke's banh mi is actually worth the trip whereas the other I can get the same quality in my own state at a handful of vendors. Got the pork n pork and highlight was definitely the lemongrass pork. Vegetables were nicely pickled aswell not overpowering the roll itself. Butter and pate were nice compliments (I prefer a bit more pate next time though). Fried shallots were a nice touch just a tad excessive. Overall though it was flavour packed and every bite was just like being tranquil state of serenity. Only disappointment was that you weren't around when I used to live in Moonee ponds otherwise you would've been a staple to my diet.

This place is so easy to find on Puckle Street, Moonee Ponds as this is the only shop with a large number of people queing up for food. The eatery does not have any seating as it is a take away joint but nobody seems to mind. Some take the Bunh Mi with them while the rest just enjoy it then and there, truly believing in the best bites are the ones enjoyed right then and there on the street. Packed with generous layers of meat and fresh veggies, the Bánh Mì bursts with flavour. I had Beef in betel leaf with lemongrass roll, which I simply loved it. Highly recommended.
